The educational process is carried out by three chairs of the Faculty: the chair of the English language and intercultural communication, the chair of German and French Philology, the chair of Linguodidactics and Theory of Translation. They train specialists in the English, German, French, Chinese languages and also linguists and translators.

The teaching staff of the three chairs consists of 12 doctors and 37 candidates of Philology and Pedagogics. The faculty is rightly considered to be the major educational establishment as well as the leading scientific and research centre of the Region.

On the 18th of January 2018 the chair of foreign languages of the Faculties of Science was introduced in the structure of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology.

  1. Bachelor’s degree in majors:

“Philology” (profiles are “Foreign philology”, “The English language and literature”, “The English language and literature, the Chinese language”, “The German language and literature, the Chinese language”, “The French language and literature, the Chinese language”),

“Linguistics” (profile “Practice and Theory of Translation”).

  1. Specialist’s degree in the major “Practice and Theory of Translation”, specialization “Special translation”.
  2. Magistrate’s degree in the major ““Philology”(profiles are “Theory and Practice of Translation and Intercultural communication”, “Romance and Germanic Philology. Typology of related and unrelated languages”).
  3. Magistrate’s degree in the major “Linguistics” (profile “Practice and Theory of Translation”).   

Starting from the 2015-2016 academic year, within the framework of the “Philology” sector (profile: Foreign philology: English and literature, Chinese), Chinese is introduced as a second foreign language (for students studying on paid basis).

From the 2016-2017 academic year, bachelors are trained in the field of "Fundamental and Applied Linguistics".

Starting from the academic year 2017-2018, within the framework of the “Philology” sector (profiles: Foreign philology: German language and literature, Chinese language; French language and literature, Chinese language), Chinese is introduced as the third foreign language (for students studying on paid basis).

Students in other areas can study Chinese in elective classes.

On the basis of the faculty, a dissertation council was created for the defense of doctoral and master's theses in the specialties "German Languages" and "Theory of Language". At meetings of the council, more than 250 works were defended, including dissertation research by specialists from universities of the Volga, Urals and Siberia. The training of highly qualified personnel from among the graduates of the faculty is carried out through graduate school in these specialties.

Currently, the faculty has a good technical base, providing high-quality training of modern specialists in foreign languages. The faculty has a reading room and a library of scientific, educational, methodological, periodical and fiction literature in foreign languages, 2 computer classes, a multimedia class, a simultaneous translation laboratory, a laboratory for modeling natural languages ​​(NLP), a laboratory for the diagnosis and psychological and pedagogical support of giftedness , language lab.

On the basis of the faculty, the Center for International German Language Exams TestDaF and TestAS, the Center for International French Language Exams DELF-DALF, the French Resource Center, and the Center for Further Training in Foreign Languages ​​function.
